WHAT WE DO
The Similkameen Country Development Association (SCDA) is committed to fostering sustainable growth and long-term prosperity throughout the Similkameen Valley. We support local businesses and industries by offering resources, advocating for their needs and promoting our region’s unique tourism assets. We continue to provide Chamber of Commerce-style services, our core focus is sustainable economic development that benefits the entire community. We are rooted in the Lower Similkameen, connected across the Valley and beyond.
To advance our mission, we’ve identified several key areas of focus:

Community Growth & Prosperity: We drive sustainable regional growth through business advocacy, workforce development, industry promotion, and strategic planning. Our efforts include supporting diverse industries, retaining and strengthening local businesses, and fostering youth skill development to help build a vibrant future for the Similkameen. We also collaborate with local government representatives to advocate for the needs of our region.

Financial Resource Development: To ensure long-term impact, we actively pursue funding through grants, service contracts, and diversified income streams. Strengthening our financial base enables us to continue delivering vital services. We also offer grant writing services and welcome partnerships on projects that improve the quality of life in our communities.

Organizational Excellence: We are committed to cultivating a resilient, values-driven organization. Through updated bylaws, a refreshed mission and vision and continued investment in staff and volunteer development, we’re building a strong foundation for effective, transparent and fearless leadership.

Collaboration & Learning: We believe meaningful progress starts with strong relationships. SCDA actively partners with Indigenous communities, local governments and regional interest holders to work toward shared goals. Our outreach efforts support lifelong learning, inclusive community engagement and accessible initiatives across the Valley.

Business, Industry, and Visitor Support Hub: As a central hub for business and visitor services, SCDA provides advocacy, event promotion and enhanced tourism support. Through our Destination BC-funded Visitor Information Centre and local service agreements, we collect valuable visitor data, promote regional experiences and contribute to the economic vitality of the Lower Similkameen.
