Sowing Shelterbelts: Creating Pollinator Highways on Farms

March 21 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Lia McKinnon, Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship
Tamara Richardson, Cornucopia Crop Consulting, and
Willis Brown, Brown-Schneider Organic Farm

Not only do shelterbelts house pollinators and beneficial insects, but they can offer drought protection, improve air quality, and form a physical barrier to weeds blowing in from neighbours and roads.

At this workshop, learn about what to consider when planting a hedgerow/shelter belt in terms of placement, native species to include, habitat structure, where to start, and hear from a local farmer who has incorporated hedgerows into their ground crop farm.
